Rockland Historical Society was founded in 1977 by a group of local history enthusiasts who recognized the need to preserve the rich heritage of our community. Since then, we have grown into a thriving organization that serves as a hub for historical research and education.
Our collection includes thousands of artifacts, photographs, and documents that tell the story of our community. From early settlers to modern-day developments, our exhibits offer a glimpse into what life was like in our area at different points in history.
At the Rockland Historical Society, we offer a wide range of books and publications that tell the many stories that make up the rich tapestry that is our community.
Our headquarters at the lower level of the Rockland Public Library are closed to the public due to damage from mold and the resulting unhealthy air quality.
While we work to make the decisions and secure the facilities to move forward, please email us below, or contact us on our Facebook page and we will make every effort to help you.
Updates will be posted here, please keep checking in.
This year's annual meting of the Society will be held on Saturday, November 9th, 2024, 1:00 pm at the Sail Power and Steam Museum - 75 Mechanic Street, Rockland, Maine.
The meeting will include election of Directors followed by a program celebrating the 200th birthday of Civil War general Hiram G. Berry presented by Capt. David Sulin.
All members of the community are welcome.
By donating, you contribute to our mission of preserving and educating about our local history.
